Would Rent Control Make Housing More Affordable?

Nevada Policy Staff
| May 22, 2023

Rent control is a utopian concept that almost never plays out the way proponents envision. That’s because when you cap prices, you also remove incentive to build more housing or to maintain existing housing.

That’s why Assembly Bill 298, which seeks to limit and cap fees related to rental properties and enact price controls for individuals, would be bad for Nevadans.

This Nevada Policy video explains in detail why rent control not only doesn’t work but actually makes things worse for consumers.
