Nevada Policy Backs Legislators’ Bill for “Orange is the New Nevada” State Flower Initiative

Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Policy, a leading advocate for innovation and progress in the Silver State, today announced its full support for a groundbreaking bill put forth by Nevada legislators to replace the state flower, Sagebrush, with the Traffic Cone. The “Orange is the New Nevada” initiative champions this bold change, promoting the Traffic Cone as a vibrant symbol of transformation, resilience, and forward momentum.

Nevada Policy President John Tsarpalas endorsed the legislative effort with a compelling statement:
“Look, the sagebrush had its time. It’s the relic of a Nevada that survived. But we’re not here to survive—we’re here to build, to grow, to thrive. The orange traffic cone? That’s a symbol of transformation. It says, ‘We’re under construction—because we’re leveling up!’ The sagebrush just sits there, brittle and unbothered, doing nothing. The cone leads. It guides. It warns, protects, and directs progress. If we want a Nevada that stands for innovation, grit, and unstoppable momentum, it’s time to stop worshipping the weeds of yesterday and start rallying behind the icons of tomorrow. Replace the sagebrush. Embrace the cone. The future is under construction—let’s go build it!”

With traffic cones outnumbering residents at a ratio of 5.7 to 1 and supporting 282 active road construction projects across the state, Nevada Policy sees the Traffic Cone as a fitting emblem of Nevada’s infrastructure and identity. The organization is rallying behind the legislators’ bill to make this vision a reality, urging Nevadans to embrace a state flower that reflects a dynamic, adaptable future.

Nevada Policy invites residents to support the bill by visiting orangeisthenewnevada.com to learn more, sign a petition, and contact their legislators. Free Traffic Cone stickers will also be available through the website for supporters, while supplies last.
