Week 3 Under the Dome: Key Hearings, Research & How to Testify

| February 17, 2025

A new week at the Legislature means new bills up for debate, and we’ve got everything you need to stay informed. Below is a list of key hearings scheduled for the week, along with resources to help you understand the issues and make your voice heard.

📅 Bills Scheduled for Hearings This Week

Bills We Oppose

  • AB 116 – This bill bans online food platforms from processing orders for restaurants that don’t have a valid health permit and requires a written agreement between the platform and the restaurant. Violating these rules would be a misdemeanor, adding legal risks and extra hurdles for small businesses.
  • SB 24 – Creates a new occupational license for an “emergency medical responder” that is different from an “emergency medical technician.” Prohibits practice without a license and imposes criminal penalties.

⚖️ Bills We’re Currently Neutral On

  • AB 121 – This bill requires rental agreements to list rent as a single, all-inclusive amount and prohibits landlords from charging extra beyond that. It also ensures tenants can request a copy of the lease, pay rent without extra fees or a bank account, and limits excessive online payment fees. Tenants can take legal action if these rules are violated.
