• 🔴 AB303 – Expands prevailing-wage, fair-practice, and record-keeping rules to broadband, telecom, and fiber-optic projects funded by public bodies, effectively taxing taxpayers to pay for higher labor costs on infrastructure that often falls outside traditional public-work scopes.

• 🔴 SB116 – Overhauls county officer salaries by tying base pay to inflation or top staff salaries, guarantees 3% annual raises, and allows cost-of-living adjustments, all while easing private-practice limits for small-county district attorneys—resulting in potentially unsustainable payroll growth.

• 🔴 AB232 – Lowers the bar for a full year of PERS service compensation to just 900 hours worked, effectively enrolling teachers after only 23 days on the job and saddling taxpayers with a heavier pension burden.

• 🔴 SB161 – Creates a fast-track binding arbitration process for teacher union disputes, mandates final rulings within 60 days, and even greenlights court-approved strikes—undermining local control and allowing unions to revisit legally negotiated contracts.

• 🔴 AB213 – Forces custom-fabrication workers on public contracts to receive prevailing wages, broadening “public works” and driving up project costs with no guarantee of better outcomes.

😄 A Little Tahoe Laugh: “Ban the Bottles” Bill 

• 🐢 SB324 – This bill would outlaw the sale of disposable plastic water bottles (4 liters or less) in Lake Tahoe communities, with a gentle warning for first offenders and escalating fines—because you can’t put a price on a clean lake, but apparently you can on your H2O.
